ELECTRICAL BASICS AND
MAINTENANCE OF ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENTSE

INTRODUCTION:

Electricity is an important input for running any industry in general and the
steel industry in particular. Electrical equipments are the integral part of the
machinery & equipments used in the steel industries. During the production activity, the breakdown of any equipment results in delays which cause reduction in production output and wastage of manpower & energy
etc. Some times we may loose the customers also for not fulfilling the
commitments due to this.

Keeping this thing in mind, National Institute of Secondary Steel Technology, Mandi Gobindgarh is going to organize the first batch of Four months Training course on “Electrical Basics and Maintenance of Electrical Equipments” specially for the secondary steel sector.

The programme shall mainly aim at the Maintenance Techniques, Fundamentals of electricity, Maintenance of Electrical Equipments, Use of different types of Electrical tools, Safe and efficient use of electricity, Modernization and latest developments in this field.

FOCUS AREAS

  • Types and description of electrical equipments viz. Motors, Generators,
    Transformers, cables, switchgears etc.
  • Basics of Electricity and principles of Electrical equipments
  • Understanding of Electricity tariffs and Electricity Bills
  • Power factor & Maximum demand
  • Electrical distribution in the industry
  • Electrical safety and use of different types of electrical tools
  • New Maintenance techniques
  • Breakdown and Preventive Maintenance
  • Maintenance of Transformers, Motors, starters and other switch gears
  • Maintenance of Lighting and Power system equipments
  • Maintenance of Induction Furnaces
  • House keeping and Maintenance schedules

DURATION OF THE COURSE: Four Months (June-Sept.’2010)

  • The candidates will have to attend the theory lectures & presentation once in a week likely on Wednesdays.
  • Practical and plant visits shall be arranged once in every month.

COURSE FEE:

  • Rs. 9,000/- for single candidate
  • Rs. 8,000/- per candidate in case of two or more candidates from the same organisation

The course fee includes study material, course kit, Plant visits, tea & snacks etc.

ELIGIBILITY :

  • B.E/Diploma/ITI
    or
  • 10th with 1 yr. experience in electrical field
    or
  • Under Matric with 3 yrs. experience in the electrical field
