Secondary steel sector of our country experiences a shortage of technically qualified and trained manpower at the middle or supervisory levels. Advancement of technology and opening up of economy and trade and made the situation more critical. In order to meet the challenge, the institute has introduced two professional courses in Steel making Technology and Rolling Technology with the objective to provide trained manpower to the secondary steel sector suitable at middle/ supervisory level.
A student having a minimum qualification of 10+2 with PCM can join the course which is of 3 semesters of theory followed by an industry based project work.The students are required to attend counselling sessions and practical classes once a week at their respective enrolled centre. Study materials are provided to the students.
Study centres are located at Mandi Gobindgarh in Punjab, in Raipur, in Nagpur with collaboration with REC Visveswaraya and in Kolkata in collaboration with Bengal Engineering College, Shivpur (a deemed University).
